Awkward first times for Unidays

THE CHALLENGE

Unidays is a digital-first brand aimed at a digitally-savvy audience.Their challenge, as with most brands targeting Gen Z, was to get even the slightest bit of attention for what they offered students.

The key? Authenticity.

In keeping with our brand mission we sourced student actors, giving them an opportunity to feature in an advert whilst still at college. This also added authenticity to the films that would have been difficult to achieve with regular actors.

To highlight the ease of using Unidays (to get you a slice off your slice), we showed some examples of students’ ‘first times’. These relatable moments gave a playful and unexpected expression of the Unidays brand.

Common thinking told us that this audience has a short attention span, and to give them what they want as quickly as possible. But I wanted to test that with an approach that held off right until the end. Short sketches with a punchline, and the brand held right until the end.

Filming was achieved in a day across three locations producing two full length ads and multiple short teasers to use on Instagram and TikTok.

The ‘long tease’ of the scripts gave a higher engagement rate than previous ads, driving sign-ups and building brand personality with a highly discerning audience.
